viv size for red tail boa
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
looking for a bit of advice
i have a baby red tail boa, i'm looking to build a viv in a recess in my house
problem is it is only 3ft wide,
i was looking to build it 3x 2x 4ft high with a branch to climb which would make use of the height,
would this be o.k for when shes an adult or would i need more floor space,
plus advice on heating a viv of this size
cheers

agreed
also make sure any climbable objects or shelves are super secure and can support your boa's weight
i'd also suggest checking out raze's enclosures

Re: viv size for red tail boa
Yea, floor space is advisable over height!! added height is a bonus, but the floor space is required!

Re: viv size for red tail boa
That's a pretty small footprint. Even with a lot of climbing space, the snake won't have a large space to spread out body weight. I'd build something freestanding rather than built-in. It gives you more flexibility of design and you can move it around the house.

Re: viv size for red tail boa
Yea definately need more floor space..I believe its 1 sq foot per foot of snake length, at bare minimum, so that doesnt take into consideration any height at all. I would personally go with double that, just to keep them comfortable, plus account for lost space due to decorations,ect...
