Just got a Columbian Boa!
Okay so here's the story.... I got a Columbian Boa for my boyfriend as a Christmas present but I have to keep it with me until it's time to give it to him.
So, I just got him today and when I put him in the tank he was just coiled there for a long while... then I saw him exploring for a long time and now he's back coiled. I think he's sleeping or something. I only have a heat mat because my boyfriend has everything else for him. So I have that on and the hidebox on that side. Then on the other side I have another hidebox where it's cooler.
Will he ever go into either one? I feel like he's scared or something.
Can I leave the heatpad on all night? It seems really hot.
I looked all over for help but I have not found anything. Can someone please help me out? Thanks!

Re: Just got a Columbian Boa!
When you first get a snake they are usually in a lot of stress from the scary car drive and being picked up by a hole lot of people that it doesnt reconize.
He will get use to his surronding soon and will be a lot more active.
So dont worry this is tipical of boa's and most other snakes.
As the heat pad leave it on and if it is to hot he will move to the other side.
well good luck! and welcome to RTB.net

Re: Just got a Columbian Boa!
If you're going to have him for the next week and a half or so, you need to get him a makeshift hide. A small cardboard box would do nicely for now, otherwise he could get far too stressed out.
