hide box ?
my red tail rarley comes out of his hide box unless he is drinking water. is this normal?

Yes. He should usually be more active at night. Just make sure you have hides on the cool and warm side of the cage. It is perfectly normal for snakes to hide

depends on the snake, sometimes they spend a rediculous time in there, others dont touch their hides

Exactly. I just acquired 2, 2006 Peruvians. One never comes out of the hide until night, and the other never uses them.

I have noticed mine never uses the hide. Ever. She will crawl over it sometimes, but she like to stretch out straight and lay next to the glass. Plus she seems to like the cool end of the cage. Granted I have only had her a few weeks.

My boas are weird, theyll stay in theyre hides for like a week straight never coming out and then they will not use them for like a month straight.

I thought my little girl was just weird...but apparently not.
She never uses her hide..only after a feeding.
She likes to lay on the top of the hide and climb over it sometimes...
