OK So I decided Last night
That we have had evil elvira bout a month since she bit me due to stress...I have not bothered with her to touch her. Other then to change and disinfect the cage..fresh water everyday sometimes twice, cause the minute she gets scared she runs for the water bowl and soaks for hours. the last time she has eaten was the night before we got her..I keep waiting a few days and re offering but still no luck....I guess she will eat when she is ready....But on with the thread..
I opened the cage and put gloves on just in case. and she showed no aggressiveness toward me with the glove at all.she actually enjoyed me stroking her..(bare with me though remember I am petrified of snakes and since she bit me Im iffy with her altogether.even though it was my stupidity that kinda got me bit.I didnt know they got so stressed with the travel and all. So for 20 minutes or so I just showed her attention with the gloves on.....HUbby comes in takes her out puts her on the bed and pets and strokes her.. BUT she is very very timid....I'm beginning to think she wasn't handled as much as the people claimed....And she stresses out ...she is very jumpy still..and after like 20 minutes he put her back and she was right back to hiding in and under the water. So anyway I guess what I wanted to share was the fact i'm really trying with this snake...Even though she has evil tendencies!

Re: OK So I decided Last night
How is the snake doing otherwise? Is she eating and healthy? If she is soaking so much, you may want to A) check your humidity, and B) check her closely for mites. I've never heard of a snake soaking out of stress. Usually they will run right for the hide. Aggression from stress may be caused by a health issue. If you've ruled out a health problem, keep holding her, but make sure you are feeling calm and in control when you hold her, even if it means having your hubby around. And make sure you keep the business end away from your face! Good luck and keep us posted.

She is other wise fine...She is very Healthy!... No mites or health issues...But she hasnt eaten for us yet...Vet said give it time....and keep reoffering every few days which we are doing...she never had a hide box til we got her.. and she wants nothing to do with it....the vet said she was soaking in the water bowl because it made her feel safe....But anyway we are just giving her time and handling her together...

Re: OK So I decided Last night
You may have better luck getting her to eat if you don't handle her for a while. I have a nervous, finicky snake. I have the best luck getting him to eat when I leave a nice warm rat on a paper plate near him in his tank. Then I cover most of the cage with a towel and turn out the lights. Usually within the hour the rat is gone.

Re: OK So I decided Last night
Thanks for the info I caught eaves dropping. I have a real timid Guyana female that is slow to take a rat if at all. I did have to leave it lay in there before but it didn't work this week. I just put your plan into action, made sense to me.

I'm assuming it's a boa PythonGuy21, there's a pic of a boa in the corner of each of the posts.

Re: OK So I decided Last night
I am glad you are getting over your fear. Snakes are wonderful creatures even if they do bite every now and then.
