I don't have an answer for you, but if you search this site or Google, you might find a care sheet or some good threads on them.

Re: I Need Some Info On Nicc Red Tail Boa's
I'm not sure about the breeding size - never looked into it. I'm also not sure if they are consider "dwarf boas" but they don't get as large as most others, usually maxing out at 5-6' tops, usually staying closer to 4. They also have the tendency to be a bit on the nippier side. Just a tendency - not all of them. I have 2 younger ones that are fine, one only struck maybe once, but I have a nic cross that's older, and I swear she's evil, haha. She'll be out for about a total of 2 minutes before the striking and hissing begins.

Re: I Need Some Info On Nicc Red Tail Boa's
so what about them? My normal Nics are teeny, and quite tame. One pair of my 05 bluefields nics are around 3 and the other 3 of them are around half that size.
**forgot to say the bluefields are nippy but handleable.

Re: I Need Some Info On Nicc Red Tail Boa's
I looked them up. They are small, and could be considered dwarfs. Females have been bred at under 4' and males can breed at 3'.

Re: I Need Some Info On Nicc Red Tail Boa's
Some people call them "dwarfs" because they tend to be smaller than Colombian b.c.i. And size seems to differ depending on who you talk to. They can get large if fed like a Colombian, but they can stay small if not fed as often (or such large food items). Generally males do not get as big as the females but they are always exceptions. MY largest Nic female is 54 inches long 1400 grams and at least 3 years old. Although she's at the minimum size for breeding, I don't know if I'll breed her this year or next. My biggest male is also 54 inches, he's 2 years old but weighs much more. I also have a male that is 3 years old that finally hit the 4 foot mark recently.
I have some other little ones that are growing veeeeerrry slow. I'm sure that they'll hit the 4-5 foot mark but it's going to take longer for them to get there.
Unfortunately nics are being crossed with colombians a lot these days and I have seen many of these crossings in which the breeder is selling the babies as nics. Which I can foresee being a problem in the future when a bunch of 7-8 foot "Nicaraguans dwarfs" start appearing.
You can check out Gus Renfro's (Rio Bravo Reptiles) website. Tom and Amanda Burke (Burke Reptiles) are good people to talk to too, or better yet spend $55, and pick up Vin Russo's book "The Complete Boa Constrictor" . Awesome book...seems like a lot of money, but trust me, it's worth it.
