My baby suriname pics!
Sorry the photos suck. I didn't want to use flash and scare them, since this was only her second time being handled in the week I've had her. Speaking of which, anyone has experiences of using flash with snakes? Do you guys always turn it off?
But anyway, I prefer doing it outdoors in natural light. I just wanted to take these pics because I knew I couldn't get another opportunity for a while to do so. I need to buy a camera!
All the colors is all wrong in the pics. She's PINK! Very pink! I'll give outdoor pics as soon as I feel she is more comfortable being handled.
Here's some pics of her hiding in the gloves I use to handle the Burm. Just click on the pictures to make them bigger!

What is this tree abomination lifiting me?!

You can see pics of the baby burm in the giants forum and X Factor you can see pics of my enclosures in the housing forum. I'll be posting them shortly after this.
Thanks!

Re: My baby suriname pics!
Cute little Suri!
Most snakes are ok with flash.. though it can scare them at first. Take a couple pictures without pointing the camera at the snake and see how it reacts to the light. In other words, get it used to the flash first without directly overwhelming him/her with it.
I can't wait to see outdoor pics. He/she has a neat pattern and a nice tail from the looks of it! Good luck with your first Suri, and please be sure to be very careful about feeding it properly! They're very sensitive at that age.

Yup, I read your care sheet! I fed her a rat pinky, it didn't leave much of a lump but I wanted to go slow. Probably will feed her anothe pinky at 5-6 day intervals until she gets used to being handled, the new environment, etc. So probably 3-4 more times. If she seems to be doing well still, I'll see about moving up a size!

Re: My baby suriname pics!
My snakes don't mind the flash at all. Sometimes the IR focus assist light gets their attention, but it doesn't really bother them either.

Re: My baby suriname pics!
nice little boa you got there, i use flash almost all the time indoors, or else the picture comes out blurry, remember, the flash not only lights it up, but it also stabalizes the image

Re: My baby suriname pics!
Yeah, that's why I wanted to use flash. But I was worried it would stress them out. They were already stressed because they are still getting used to me handling them, and now they have a second guy taking pictures of them.
My suri actually bit my sister. Well, sort of. She touched her from the back where she could not see and I'm not sure if she actually opened her mouth, but she spun backwards very fast and her nose hit my sister.
So I figures she's stressed enough as it is, and I'll use flash later on. Maybe in a week or two. Then I'll give you guys some better pictures!
