Just got the new Russo book delivered yesterday - that should answer every question I've ever had about boa constrictor taxonomy.
It's possible.

Here's the story of where the "Salmon" line came from:

Salmon Boa Constrictor

There are other lines of hypos, and yes, the Russo book should answer a lot of your questions.

Re: Is my boa a BCI or BCC and how do you tell?

I read that, very interesting... "super salmons" hehe. I was told my snake was breed to a salmon surinam, but cleo shows no traits really of anything "salmon"... its strange though if you go onto the breeders website all his surinam "salmons" are het albino, and some of them look normal. this kinda makes me want to breed cleo when she's older. but we'll see, thanks for posting that!

Re: Is my boa a BCI or BCC and how do you tell?

Hmm, I just bought my boa less than two weeks ago. Is it possible from this phone picture to tell? I'm guessing BCI but its got a pointy nose, pink undertones and very grey, but not too red of a tail. They said Colombian Red Tail, but I'm learning that means BCI, not BCC. If we paid 130 is that a bad deal for a BCI or BCC?

Re: Is my boa a BCI or BCC and how do you tell?

Here are a few more (crappy cell phone pics) I'm sure he's BCI bc when in question, and I bought him as a Colombian red tail. However he has no circular markings some are oval while others are hardly circular. Also his snout is very pointy not blunt. Is that common?

Interesting markings like Star said, but looks like a BCI to me.

Re: Is my boa a BCI or BCC and how do you tell?

*all this info hurts my brain* LOL oh boy, i have so much to learn....

i think the more im reading, the more im getting confused. i was told that mine are columbian red tails, which im assuming are BCI's, am i correct? in a previous post, it was said that the BCI's were more active and curious, and can have an attitude on them, and the BCC's were much more laid back....if indeed mine are BCI's, then they have the temperaments of a BCC. Mine are pretty lazy, they are total lap snakes, they will just sit with you all afternoon if you let them. the only time they showed any agitation or nervousness was the first few days we had them, obviously. now, they just look at us and expect us to pick them up whenever we open the cage.

also, my male has alot more reddish tones in his saddles and especially on his tail. hes got some nice pinkish tones along the sides of his body too. my female on the other hand has more of a blackish-brownish color on her tail, and doesnt have as much pink color along the side of her body. here are some pics of my male and female. correct me if im wrong, but i believe they are BCI's.

this is the female

and this is the male
