My reptilian weekend.....with a twist.
So this weekend was a good reptile weekend here in NH. We had the reptile show in Manchester, where I live, so of course I dragged my wife down there to see what was there.
Her most famous words. NO MORE SNAKES!!!!
The show was pretty good- LOTS of ball pythons, lots of froggies, spiders, some boas. NO burms to be had, anywhere. Nothing.
My wife- not a snake lover at all- fell in love with a couple of little sand boas. To help her get into the snake thing, we ended up getting her 3 little sand boas. Its a good start to getting her into the reptile thing, I thought!
So after drifting around the show for about an hour, and resisting picking up some beautiful snakes for me, we went to get my son. H elives about an hour away from me, and we figured that since he was a little old for an easter basket, we would go to NERD's retail outlet and maybe let him get something small.
We go to NERD, and ended up taking a tour of the breeding facility. All I could say was WOW.....Kevin has come a LONG way from the Chandler Ave condo!!!
I used to go there once in awhile to get stuff, and it was literally a condo in a condo complex FULL of reptiles. Kinda funny to see, but awesome. This new place is insane. We checked out a ton of awesome ball and boa projects, saw all sorts of other reptillian good ness, had a chance to see the venomous snakes out of cages (venom sacs are taken out of these) and all their great stuff. It was pretty cool standing in the room with a rattlers tail going crazy in a cage right at head level.
Needless to say, after 45 minutes up there, I was totally in reptile mode. I really wanted to get something, but resisted, kinda. He had a used 6'x3' cage for sale, so I grabbed that for when my boas get a little bigger.
Now, I was totally ready for my son to pick out something cool- maybe a ball python or something like that. My wife was with him looking around. They both decided we needed this to add to our menagerie.

Re: My reptilian weekend.....with a twist.
their breeding facility is awesome!
when I took a tour there earlier this year I didn't know at the time that their venomous animals were voids. now I feel kind of duped but it's my own fault for not asking when I was there being scared LOL
man I wish my husband would fall in love with something at the reptile show...these days he won't even attend with me! you're a lucky guy

HAHA that's funny. In that picture it looks like the dog has no tail. That would be cool to take a tour of their facilities. Too far away...

What a cute Chi!!! My kids are dying for one...but I have two dogs and really don't want any more. (Plus, my maltese feels she should be the only lap dog in our lives)
I wish the kids would ask for a reptile...
Do you have pics of the sand Boas? Please??

LOL I lucked out, Ryan and I both liked reptiles, but it wasnt the most important factor in our relationship....His ability to move like liquid when he dances was kind of a selling point...LOL

Re: My reptilian weekend.....with a twist.
haha!
Too bad i diddnt get to see you up there man, i was there from about 10-12 maybe left earlier. It was an ok show, got some breakfast in the lounge area and grabbed some frozen rats for cheaper than what i normally pay (i get them at coldblooded pets down here in MA). Probably my favorite snake or reptile was the Indigo's when you first walked in on the right or on the left when you were leaving. Im also buying a rack from those people right near where the Indigo's were. I will be there in october!

Re: My reptilian weekend.....with a twist.
If your snake isn't that big yet, why did you get a Chihuahua for it to eat???
I'm kidding in case someone believed that.
