Caging Idea! HELP!
OK SO. First of all, I have ABSOLUTELY NO building skills. Ok with that out of the way, I am building a cage. So far its gone "alright". The cage itself is good with just a couple cosmetic blemishes
Well here is my idea. Let me know what you guys think.
I am thinking about placing a heating pad on the inside bottom of my cage and then placing Pegboard on top of the floor. So the heating pad will be inbetween the bottom and the pegboard, and then put vinyl flooring on the pegboard.
Let me know what you guys think.
Here is a picture of my cage so far. (PLease no pop shots)
3/4 inch MDF

I also used 3/4 inch MDF and tiled the inside. I have found that light bulb style heat work by themselves. I have never had a need to use a heating pad. The caging holds humidity well also. You may want to consider ventilation holes of some sort also.

Yeah I havent made it that far. This took me 5 hours lol. I am HORRIBLE at building stuff. I was thinking about just drilling 10 holes in a circle on both sides of the cage.
P.S. My uncle builds houses for a living and I am having a hard time building a cage lol.

What we did was use a doorknob hole drill and drill 3 holes on each side, cover with screen (leftover from the window we used for a door) stapled on the outside, then put one of those register vent covers over that.
On another cage we built we just used a HUGE drill bit (the biggest we could find) instead of the paddle style hole drillers and drilled rows and rows of holes in a square pattern, then followed with the screen and vent covers, just because the paddle type bits and the circular bit thingies (that are shaped like a soda can but just the outside ring) kept breaking.

I just realized I should have lined the inside before screwing the boards together.

What should I use to line the inside of the cage with? Preferably something that I can pick up at Home Depot/Lowes and doesnt require a saw.

I don't know much about building cages, but I wanted to say, for some bizarre reason, that I have that same vacuum cleaner. Don't they rock?

Use tile board or shower surround. Should of used 3/4 spruce or oak then you would of just had to stain/seal it. Then just used the tile board on the bottom to cover flexwatt. also dont forget to caulk around the tile board that you cover the flexx watt or heat mat with so no water gets in a fries your little buddy.

It is pretty good! Turn it on and you have to hold it so it doesnt run away from you!
