Before he died of IBD...
Hey guys, I picked up a suriname redtail boa a few months back, but died not even a week later of IBD. I thought I would post some pics of him, as he was gorgeous, IMO.

Better believe I raised cain at the petstore I bought him from, and never walked into it since.
Thanks for looking,
Justin

Sorry to hear that. So the necropsy showed IBD? Do you know where the store got the snake from in the first place and how long they had it before you bought it?

I'm not sure where they got him from, they had him for less then a month before I got him home. As far as the necropsy, I told them all the signs I saw (stargazing, head twirl thing, refuse to eat, put him on his back and can't get back to normal...). Then they said it would take a bit for them to order me in another one; I said I didn't want another animal from them, just cash. Apparently they don't do that though, they said they would call back in a bit and tell me if they confirm its IBD then I can get cash back. They called back said they said I can pick up my money anytime.

Do you have any other boids? If so I hope you quarantined him away from them, and tossed all the caging stuff and any tools etc. that he was in contact with. I, personally, wouldn't even consider trying to clean it.

Did they ever come in close proximity or any tools used between the two? I'm asking because pythons seem to be more susceptible and succumb much faster. It's great that you are getting your money back, but if I could have, I would pay for the necropsy myself, so that if the same thing happened to any of my other boids (IBD wise), I could prove they were the most likely source. Now you have your money back but if your python comes down with IBD, you have no recourse against the shop. The other reason I would have had the tests done is to actually let everyone I could, that might patronize that store, know what they might get by purchasing an animal from them.
I hope nothing happens with your python and I'm sorry that you lost the boa. I'm glad you were able to recoup your money. I just hope they are decent enough folks that they will refrain from selling any boids or other animals that might be infected or carrying, until they have them tested and cleared.

This happened a couple months back and my python has shown no signs of it, so I'm hoping he's in the clear. The tools were not used for the two. And as far as the shop goes, I'm sure it didn't faze them at all!!!
