Picking my next project..
So my next project will be between dwarf boa's or BCC. If i go the BCC route instead of the dwarf id like to go with the Guayana boa's. There not seen as much and they look real good. Im going to get them young 07 babies. How long will they take to mature? I was think around 4 years?

Oh by the way Nessy has her new mate coming this weekend. He was a rescued male from a petshop that went out of business in Rhode Island and left him and some burmese pythons behind. Also a full grown Salcuta that they found stuck under a wall.

Males will mature quicker..so mabey get a yearling or older female and a 07' male..then they will be ready at the same time.

Guyanan BCC have a reputation for being very hard to care for. Some have been known to be tempermental, but mine are not. Many come down with regurgitation syndrome, and others simply never do very well. Imports especially, which most are. They need to be raised SLOW (I can't say that enough!).. it took my adult female 6 years to fully mature. And their conditions must be monitored properly. If you start out with healthy animals, read up on the specifics of caring for BCC, keep up with your husbantry, and resist the urge to over-feed and over-handle, you should be successful. I had luck raising one boa into adulthood without any problems. My juvenile is currently thriving as well.
Where do you plan on getting yours from? I ask this because unless they are direct imports, or their lineage can be traced back to an exact point in Guyana, there's no telling if they're really Guyanans. Some will argue that there is no difference between the boas from Suriname and the boas from Guyana, other than the location. Personally I think there are some visual differences, but a boa from Suriname can look just like a Guyanan, and a boa from Guyana can look just like a Suri. So if you do breed them, you'll need to be able to prove (with import documentation) that you really are producing Guyana boas. Otherwise you'll only be able to label them as "BCC".

Thank you both for those very useful and informative posts. It was just a thought and maybe if i can find pure lines i will get into them. Caring for BCC is very specific from what i have read. So i will have to think it over and decide what i think is best for me. Thanks for the help as it was only an idea and was hoping no one would jump on me for being 17 and trying to get more snakes. Thanks everyone.
