UVB for RTB???
I'm in the process of taking all my reptiles to the vet because I found a place for free check-ups. I was telling the vet about my RTB & setup and she told me that I'm suppose to be using a UVB bulb on my snake. I've never heard of this or seen it anywhere in my research. Does anyone else do this?

I do not. And If I remember correctly they do not need the UVB for anything.

The vet told me that they need UVB to get D3 but I thought that's only required for geckos & other lizards...

Is this vet a herp vet? If so how much experience does she/he have with snakes? It may be that the vet treats herps but primarily sees lizards etc, and just assumes that the requirements are the same for snakes?

They see all animals at the facility but she is specificly the reptile vet there & was very knowlegeable except for the UVB thing. I'm going back today & will verify her statement.

Nope, boas do not require UVB. Boas get all the calcium they need from eating whole prey.
Since you are in the DFW area if you need a good herp vet just let me know and I will be happy to recommend one.
