Why do they make them so pricey? If i had millions id buy every pricey snake and sell the offspring for the normal price of a ball! Just so everyone can have an amazing looking animal.

sigh.....I'll just have to settle for a ratsnake for now.....or a blizzard corn...but they're kinda dumb from being inbred....nevermind...

I am not going to get into a long discussion about economics, but suffice it to say that your idea is harmful to the people who actually do make their living by breeding snakes. Even the "Big breeders" don't rake in really big bucks at it, but they usually do make enough to keep their house, car, and business in business. If someone comes along and "crashes the market" by selling a whole bunch of snakes off at well below market value, then these people no longer have the means to make a decent living.

Incidentally, this is not just morphs that I am talking about. I wonder what Gus would think if I paid retail for several pair of everything he keeps, bred them and produced a market surplus, and then sold them all for $75 - 100 (the cost of a colombian boa).

I am sure the poster you are referring to did not intend the post to be against the breeder making a profit. Just bringing these animals down to a level where anyone has a chance of purchasing them. I don't think there was any harm in that post since the chance of him becoming a millionaire anytime soon is quite slim.
The point I got from it is that alot of these animals are too expensive. Which they are. Paying thousands to hundreds of thousands for an animal that comes from a line of thoroughly inbred and powerfed animals imo is absolutely absurd. Even if you found an animal that on the outside was so beautiful in your mind that you could justify spending that much money on it, why would you support the unethical breeders that practice this type of breeding? Just my .02 on the matter.
And as for Gus, he sells his animals at a reasonable price as far as I can tell. Anyone can afford them really with a little bit of saving. And its worth every penny spending that kind of money knowing the breeder is ethical (not powerfeeding, not inbreeding) and has a great reputation of selling only healthy fine quality animals. I'd pay Gus' price over a 75$ animal of the same ssp. just on the reputation and quality alone.
Edit: Also why would anyone go through the trouble of breeding to the point of creating a market surplus with no intention of gaining profit? The thought of anyone doing that is ridiculous. Unless they just enjoy taking careful watch over gravid snakes constantly.
