To Shed or Not To Shed?

Sorry for the lame title, but it is quite fitting for the question.
.
Last night, I came home to a snake with clouded eyes and dull coloring. Expecting a shed, I figured I would come home today or tomorrow to find some skin; however, instead I find a snake with no clouded eyes, and only slightly dull coloring.
.
Other than not finding any skin, I know he didn't shed because he is not his nice shiny post-shed color. I have actually noticed this in the past a couple of times where I see the clouded eyes, etc and expect a shed, and then nothing.
.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Normally before they shed, they do get cloudy for a few days and then they clear up before actually shedding. I'd keep watching and make sure that the shed wasn't placed in the back under some hide.
