Well I havn't been around too much lately, but I am still at it!
This breeding season has had some highs and lows. I have several females that are gravid now and still have some that are breeding. There will be lots of
het albino babies this year and I also got my partners 9ft. 100%
het albino to breed, which we couldn't do last year. She is a monster and I can't wait to see what she drops over the winter.
The big "Low" of this season was when my 8ft. circleback female killed the '00 albino male that was breeding her. I have heard of this, but had not ever seen it or had it happen to me. Apparently she was finished with her breeding and didn't want him around any more. I had not seen them activly breeding except for one brief encounter, but they could easily have been doing it at night and I just didn't see.
Anyway, she constricted him and it wasn't a pretty site at all. I felt horrible, but don't really see how I could have stopped it. Just one of those things that happens when you breed lots of snakes I guess.
Another slight low was that my 2 year old male albino didn't breed anything this year and just acted like he had no idea what the heck was going on or why I put him in that cage with a stupid girl, LOL!
So he is sitting out this season and will be tried again next season.
Now there is just one albino male doing all the work and he has thrown himself body and soul into his job with 3 females under his belt so far this season. He has been getting feeding breaks every couple weeks and just seem to love his job.
So now it seems that the babies will be coming at slower intervals which will probably make it easier on me since I won't be having 200 all at once and will have time to move some out before the next batch comes along.
Well that is all the news that is the news. I will try to make it by more often now that winter is coming and things are slowing down.
