Feeding in light blue phase?
Timmy is just starting to go into blue phase. His eyes are slightly blue. His feeding day(10 day cycle) is Wednesday, should I offer him his meal or wait the week or so till he sheds? He has been a great eater, and doesn't show any signs of pickyness. What would be in his best interest?
Thanks!

I have never had any issues feeding in early stages of a shed as long as the meal isn't to large and it will take it. Others have although, causing a bad shed. I take it this is a snake thats over a year old though??

Try feeding him it is ok if they eat when they are in blue. I have some boas that eat just fine when they are going to shed and I have some that will not even look at a rat until after they have shed.
Take care
Tom

I usually don't feed if I can tell they are about to shed (blue or not) I just wait til after then feed them. I think you will get conflicting opinions and really it will be more up to you (and Timmy as to if he will take it...)

Personally I offer a meal on feeding day even when in shed. My boa will usually take it, but, the ball python will not. I leave it up to them as to weather or not they want to eat. I have never heard of it causing a problem with their shedding. Although I could be wrong (and hope someone will correct me if I am).
Good luck with feeding time.

If it is in question for you. It will not hurt him to wait it out after the shed you know. He will not suffer from hunger or any other ill effects. If you want to be sure there is not any bad shed, I personally would wait it out.

As you can see, you'll get different opinions on this subject...neither of them wrong. I personally feed mine on schedule whether the're about to shed or not (unless they've cleared back up and are just about to shed). Do whatever you think is right for your snake. After all, it might not even take it.

I lean more towards letting the snake decide when they should eat or not. You'll notice cues that your snake is hungry and actively hunting. Usually when mine go into shed they dissappear and I leave them alone short of misting them or to check on them if I haven't seen them in a few days. Casey is the only one that doesn't completely dissappear during a shed cycle and if she appears to be hunting during the early stages of shed I'll go ahead and feed her. I have to say though that in the past couple years she has only done this once while in blue.

Hey guys,
Yeah, I think Timmy is doing the hiding thing as we speak. Hes curled up under is hide rock with his head under his belly. His eyes are getting pretty blue, and I can tell he is pretty lazy. I'm leaning toward letting him rest untill he sheds, and to offer him his meal a day after he has shed. If i fed him inside his home I would offer him the meal, but the fact that I use a seperate feeding container, Id have to pick him up, which would probalby stress him out right now.
