very testy baby...
there is a very angry snake on my thumb right now...
he's been hissing almost non stop since i got him out. he's struck at me twice so far. How long do you think he'll be like this? months?
my other snake is a sweetheart so i'm not really used to this. but, i can suck it up and deal with it. he finally has a name(as of today) and it's Imp. suits him quite well.
Sorry this post is kind of choppy, typing with one hand...
and here's my sweet one, just because.
he stayed here for about an hour while i read...

Just give it time. Work with him as much as you can. He should calm down after several holdings. How are his cage temps etc?

I have one that never calmed down. He is almost 6 years old and HATES me, strikes at the cage etc. It may be that we thought he was a female for years and tried to breed him to another male last year for a bit, haha. His name is Zoe, my first real boa. I had no idea how to probe he was the only snake we ever had a vet probe, so sad she was wrong and Zoe has had to suffer so. He is just anti-social to me, tolerates some others. Just saying it does happen, my other 11 are all great sweet critters one was a terrible juvie and grew out of it. Good luck.

Maybe if you changed his name it would start the healing process
Seriously though, I think genetics can be a big player in displayed agression.

It is just typical baby behavior. Most grow out of it or at least improve. My boy was a hissy baby and is a hissy teen now. He is not a biter but he will head but you in a heartbeat. There are times that I swear he just likes the feel of hissing. He'll be perfectly content crawling up my arm and just start hissing. He'll go by my hair and give me a sweet little nothing right in my ear. Just a personality thing I'm begining to think. He is 16 months old now. My sweet girl is over 2 now and she was known to strike as a small baby but when she grew out of it she never struck again unless it is feeding time. The only baby I've ever had that has never struck or hissed is the new one Selene.
