regurgitation syndrome??
hi all,
i recently bought a young suriname redtail, he's about 23inches long so still pretty young, the guy i bought him off said that he was due a feed but i left it a while to let him settle in first, the next morning i found he had regurgitated a fuzzy mouse, strange, the man said he was due a feed so how has he regurged? obviously the man i bought him off was full of s**t and he had recently been fed,
anyway i thought it must of been because i handled him to put him in his new cage, i waited a week before feeding again, i tried a fuzzy and he took it no problem, he kept it down and i thought all was well,
last night (5 days since his last feed) i tried him on another fuzzy, he took it but then regurgitated it about 2 hours later, he hadnt been handled, his temps are fine, the food item was definatly not to big, what else could it be???
thanks............kwiky
oh and heres a pic of the little guy

Young Suris can be very touchy, and can get into that regurge pattern.
Wait 3 weeks to feed again, and next time dust the food (smaller than usual) with pro-biotics (PM Julius Squeezer for the skinny on pro-biotics) and then stretch out the feedings to 10-14 day intervals.
Slow and steady wins the race.

with my guyana i always fed her under girth size and i still do. she is 2 now and i never had the regurg problem. i would feed her every week till she was one and then i switched to every 2 weeks. i never handled her for 3 days after feeding. it wouldn't hurt to get a fecal done to rule out parasites.

Suri's are a touchy breed. The probiotics might be a wise choice, but I'm with Louise...get a fecal done. Parasites can cause regurge. Fuzzy mice shouldn't make any snake throw up.
