Tastes like Chicken?
Hey...
Please don't kill me for asking this question... but I have a RTB, and was wondering what feeding options I have?
Right now he's feeding on F/T pinkies, and next feed will probably be on F/T fuzzies.
If I'm cooking chicken or pork, would it be safe to give a proper sized chunk of the thawd meat? Should I only feed once a week, or are smaller snacks between feedings ok? Would throwing in a piece of chicken be harmful?
*innocent smile*
Thoughts anyone?
Thanks!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I read that snakes' bodies use the bones, etc. in the entire animal/feeder -- during the digestion process. Therefore, I would summize that feeding a chunk of chicken would change the process and do less good for the snake.

I've heard of people feeding their large snakes whole thawed chickens, but never just pieces of meat. I've also heard that feeding chicken can cause Salmonella. If I were you, I'd just stick with f/t rats to be on the safe side.
btw...welcome to rtb.net!

I'm just the type of person that likes to over nurture pets. I just got 'Q' yesterday, but I feel like I should feed her every day, like you would a dog or cat. You give dogs treats when they're behaving, I want to give her some crickets or little fishies to eat or something. hehe
Do RTB eat fish? *scratches head*
Sooooo many questions!

Snakes are simple pets, they don't need to be given special treats.
Just stick to the care sheets and your snake will live a long happy life.

Do not overfeed your snake, they cannot digest food as fast as you and I and our cats and dogs. Also market bought meat is not a good idea. Stick to Rats once a week. Good Luck

I just ordered a new macro lens, so I should be able to get some sweet shots of Q, my RTB. *excited*
