Red Tail Boa Handling
I've got 2 red tails (one is an anery) and I JUST fed them last night (Sunday). They are up to eating 2-3 Medium Rats per feeding.
I'm wondering what everyone thinks about how long you should wait before handling your boa's after they've had their meal. 2 days? 3 days? 4 days?

I just wait until I don't notice any signs of the last meal (ie: no lump)...usually takes 48 hours or so for an average meal...sounds like you feed a little heavier than me so perhaps 72?

Also it's much better from everything I've read on this site to feed only 1 appropriately sized rat. Try feeding a large or X-tra lrge instead of 2 since it's healthier in the long term for your Boas.

my smaller boa is on medium rats as well, I feed about every 7 days, but if i get caught up with things and wait til about 10 days, i'll feed a medium and a small, but i think the appropriate sized meal is a better idea as mentioned my mo1416, but nonetheless, to answer the handling question, I usually wait 4 days, but i think 3 days is a safe bet. I guess if you're not sure, wait another day

I think it will probably depend on the snake, my boa is 5' 6" ish and gets one large rat ever 10/12 days, she is quite happy for me to handle her the day after I feed her. I have never had any issues with regurgitation, etc.
Cheers
Nick
