When a snake or lizard is trying to escape and rubs their snout raw on either wood or screen. I think There are other surfaces they can do it on too

Nose rub is when a snake either purposely or by accident rubs thier snout or nose against something and causes a break in the skin. Many times it is because they are trying to get out of their enclosure and rub thier nose on screen. Often times, poor herp keepers will not make sure that there are no sharp edges in the cage and the snake rubs into it. If left untreated, major infection can set in. Depending on the severity of the nose rub and the age of the herp, permanent scaring can happen.

depends on the seriousness of the rub, can you post pics??
Usually just some neosporin (without any pain reliever, lidocaine) will help..
