I hate stupid people, even worse I hate stupid people who don't take advice or help. Its an old story, we all have one of these but really
I've been in love with this one particular
bcc for a while, he belonged to a guy who owns a pet shop, just a little place, more long than wide. I'd been after him to sell me this snake for months but he always refused saying that he loved the snake too much. He loved the snake so much he kept it in the smallest aquarium you have ever seen and covered it with a 12 x 12 tile, just to tell you how small the aquarium was. The snake was just over 4 ft long. I gave him the live feeding speech, told him the dangers, never paid attention to me and miraculously the snake never got bitten.
So I don't go to the shop for a while, don't really need anything from them at that point in time, just happened to go into another pet store a while after to get some fishfood and notice a boa...its on stones, no hide, no water. Being me I take charge of the situation and tell the girl to make the changes, she tells me it belongs to her brother who owns the shop and she's not touching it. I take it out just to see what kind of condition its in but something is nagging me, snake seems familiar so I ask where he bought it, she told me somewhere totally different from the other pet shop, so I just let it slide. I left my contact numbers cause the sister said he knew nothing of snakes and get this "was afraid of it" You buy a snake and you're afraid of it oh come on!
I was back the a couple of days later to make sure my changes had been implemented, they weren't so I stayed and oversaw the operation. Picked out a dog bowl from the shelf that they could use as a water dish, had him bring out a box to use as a temporary hide, had them take out the stones, wash and clean the aquarium. I even went as far as to print out the live pile pictures for him to see the dangers of feeding live.
So what does he do, of course he kills mice for all of probably a week if that long felt badly about killing the mouse and decided that the snake could probably do it better. Keeps the snake in an aquarium with a normal aquarium top, he's a big snake he can get out. This last time he got out and got stuck in the dog food racks, really sharp plastic edges, getting him out managed to remove loads of scales, luckily no infection set in and he went into shed right after and shed okay, in pieces but no retained shed or anything. The darling *cough* boy thought that the scales would come back with the shed, I explained to him beforehand that no they won't because the snake does not SHED THE SCALES BUT THE SKIN ON TOP OF THEM! Bloody "Heck"
But I've gotten ahead of myself here, when I went back to the other pet shop and asked about his snake he told me he sold it to the other guy just as I suspected. He overcharged him for the snake, he knew that he would be gullible enough to pay what he wanted for it, I would have beaten him down. I am still how many months later still peeved about this, we're friends and he knew how much I wanted that snake. But what I'm peeved most about is that he sold it to someone with absolutely no knowledge of snakes and with a fear of them, the guy would not even walk by the snake while its in my hand once its head is facing in his direction. Puhhhlease! Did I mention that this has got to be the most laid back snake ever, never a hiss and never a bite and to make matters worse this guy wants a spitting cobra because he thinks they are so cool, thank goodness I know he'll never get a permit to own one.
I dropped by yesterday because the last time I saw the snake it was in the blue and I knew it would have shed by now. It did shed, the skin was still in the box with him, he was fed and from the blood around I knew he was fed live. I ask are you still feeding live? He says no *guilty look* I stun them first. The snake is still in the same aquarium with the same top that's scotchtaped down with a few really light things on top. This is after he told me he was having something built last weekend for it, not that I believed him but after all the scars your snake now has on it why why why?
After I'm there a while he decides to get cocky with me and tells his worker to go get a mouse, which he does, comes back with a live mouse which I grab from him and break its back before they could even react. He starts saying how cool it is to see the mouse walk around and then have the snake grab it and hear it squeaking which then confirms that inspite of him telling me that he stuns them he doesn't even with the evidence. I tell you were it not for that snake I would give up on him, but I he says he will give it to me once it gets too big for him to handle.
Oye this is painful!
