Theres no stopping this guy!! lol
Well its been 5 days since last feeding day(and the first time i tried to get the baby boa Habibi to eat, and got him to with a live fuzzy in a high temp and smaller cage ) and Dee just dropped off some live fuzzys so we decided to try him on f/k, we dangled the first one and he struck it like nothing, but it didnt make a large enough bulge so we decided to give him a second one. It was still in its death twitches a bit when we put it in and he struck that one again but he was so excited he missed and one tooth was in the mouth one was in the paper towel, so i picked him up to gently remove the paper towel as soon as it unstuck he let go of the mouse and struck again and contricted around him barely missing my fingers lol. So much for a non-feeding boa , next time were gonna try him on thawed. Were dangling a bit for now but its just because he needs to gain back his weight, as soon as he eats thawed were going to try him on non-moving, if he doesent take it well just try dangling it less and less untill he doesent need it. Im just happy hes eating!. Next cf order im getting him some fuzzy rats , that'll make him gain back the weight he lost! Personally I think the reason he didnt eat before was for three reasons, they were trying to make him eat pinkys(they prefer stuff with fur), he was infested with mites and he had no hide. Pretty bad combination

congrats! You're on the right track to a normal feeding regimine. The only thought that I have for you is that I think fuzzy mice are a little too small for him as well. I've seen the pics you osted before and when my little guy was that small, he was eating small adult mice. If you switch to rats, try a large rat pup or weaned rat. Habibi will have a nice bulge to work on and will be fat and happy. Other than that, you're doing great!

He'll gain it back..just eating makes all the difference in the world to a snake that wasnt eating before.
Takes awhile, but in his case, since hes small it shouldnt be a big deal..With adults you dont want to over do it at first, it can be just as hard on the organs to feed rapidly as to starve them..

Thats what i was saying to someone else. If it was an adult i would feed him probably every 7 days, a nice sized meal(not overly big). With him for now i feed him every 5 days on higher heat so he can digest it better. As soon as i see that his weight has gotten better im gonna start feeding him once a week.

Dont heat him up too much Sometimes after mites they are really dehydrated as well, extra heat can fry little (and I mean little LOL) brains.... He should do well every week at norm temps and you'll be able to see an improvement pretty fast

I thought it was the other boa that had the mites...? It is best not to raise his temps if he was just rid of mites for the reason amercnwmn said. Keep up the good work with him tho!
