new to the forum
Sup all!
I’m glad I found this place, tons of great info!
I just recently got my first snake, as far as I can tell its some sort of a red tail boa, not really sure and don’t really care since I think he is awesome!
I named him Lucifer, dunno seemed fitting, haha
Some info about me;
I live in south NJ, near Atlantic City, I own and run a dog, cat and small animal kennel.
Yeah that’s about all...
Anyway I have read and talked to as many ppl as I could to learn about snakes and specifically boas, I lack experience but I certainly have a lot of knowledge about them.
Here are some pics of him and his home; he is 2 and half months old.

I used this pic to measure him with the snake measuring program, according to that he is about 21"

Here is a pic of his home

Another

And lastly him playing in my wife’s hair while she is hard at work in the office...

As you can tell I like pics, who doesn’t
I had been feeding him live mice but after seeing the horror stories on here he will only get freshly killed or thawed frozen mice/rat
And last but not least my love of my life, don’t tell the wife, I know it doesn’t really belong here but I have to share...
too see more pics of stuff click here...

welcome to retailboa.net! That's a cute little Central American Red-tail you've got there! Enjoy the tiny size while you can...they don't stay small for long! I'm glad to hear about the transition from live prey...good decision. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask. We all love being able to help!

thanx all!
i recently added a humidifier to the tank and also i wood/bark substrate, i know not to feed him in there so it shouldnt be a prob, it looks a lot nicer and should help keep it more humid.
click here for the link for the cave ssjsmits
the only prob i have switching to frozen food is most places make you order by the bulk, even 50 would be a years worth and i know by the end of the year he would be eating rats prob, he wont be eating fuzzys for very long, any sugesstions...?
thanx all

Rats make a much better meal than mice. They are higher in nutrients than mice. I recomend to order some rats of apropriate size and go from there. Since shipping is about 30-40$ usually, Its good to order enough rats for a year or so.
