Newest Addition
Hey there, I just got this guy a few days ago from a pet store having a big moving sale (half off everything or buy one get one free), I saw him and decided to badger the boyfriend into buying him for me . He came with his pet store 10 gallon plus sliding/locking lid for $85, so I figured it could've been worse off... especially since his original price was $130. I'm pretty sure he's just a normal Colombian BCI, but I truly have no idea... it doesn't matter, either way I really like him

Also... does anybody have any links concerning cage building? I'm a TOTAL newb at it, and any help is appreciated, though I am going to also probably end up buying a book or two on it and convincing my dad or boyfriend to help.

He's already too big for a 10 gallon. New caging is a must.

Very cool boa!!! I agree, a 10 gallon is WAY TOO SMALL!!! The least you can do is get a rubbermaid under bed storage box and put some sort of heat mat under 1 side of it. It will give him safe housing and a bigger place till you get a larger cage planned out. I would recomend that for now and get a bigger cage built ASAP.

Yeah, I have Boas that are half that size and already in a 55-gallon. I can't imagine what that poor thing does sitting in a 10-gallon tank. Even my garter is in a 20-gallon, and he's not even 1/10th of that size, accomodating girth and all.

Thanks , he's really not that big... though I agree a bit small for the 10 gallon, he's 234 grams, and I wasn't able to measure him but he's under 3 feet. I think he's fine for now, until I get around to building a permanent enclosure.

I don't think so. To me, that's kind of like a person living in a bathroom, or the trunk of a car.

Nice boa. Congrats. I do have to agree that you should get a rubber maid container for him until you can build a bigger enclosure. They sell them in a clear plastic so you can still see him. Just be sure to put some air holes in the sides. They are great for holding humidity too.
