Boa constrictor sabogae..
.. or Pearl islands boa. The status of these as a subspecies is somewhat an area of disagreement among taxonomists and hobbyists...
.

.
From my standpoint of seeing them daily, feeding, growing, courtship and etc.. if they aren't a subspecies, who cares? They are very unique and beautiful anyway.

I'm assuming the slender one is the male. Are they mature now? I love the larger one (the female). Both are amazing and so "natural" looking.

Heidi...just seeing a new photo of any pure BCS is a treat. They are about as common in the pet trade as a Yeti. Their blood line is likely very common though. I'm fairly certain that the salmon boas you see every day got their genetics from crossing these with Colombians and other BCI.

I couldn't imagine somebody wanting to "improve" on these. They are georgeous and look like they stay small. Gus is breeding these?

It probably wasn't an attempt to improve so much as an attempt to spread the cool salmon trait into cheaper, more available breeding stock...and a wee bit of poor breeding ethics.

Wow, very pretty.
Love the somewhat pearlescent look they have.
