Boa Behavior
My boa pretty much just chills under the substrate. He turned 1 jan 21st, I was wondering if boa's become more active when they get older, or if they are mainly hidden. My boa also seems a bit chubby, should I not feed him for a little while?

DO you have hides? Not many boas like to burry themselves. Ruby is only active a day or 2 before feeding or the day she takes a monster poo like lastnight!!!

I have a hide on the warm side and the cool side. The warm side is around 92 and the cool side is around 79. He has buried himself on the warm side and the cool side. When I put him back in his 60 gal, he normally goes to the warm hide for a while, then goes under the substrate on one of the sides. He is eating very well and appears happy.

Chance hides in her substrate from time and again...sometime shell do it on either side of her enclosure. i have other rtb and they have never done that...only her...so maybe its just there personality. There all different and so unique. I wouldnt worry about them hiding in there substrate though.

YA, some people keep there snakes on a thick layer of that finely shredded aspen with no hides at all. I wouldn't do it but they swear that its 1 large hide that can be the perfect temperature at one spor or another.

My little one Diamond hides in his substrate all the time - only he's not very good at hiding so you can see various parts of his back when he's doing it. He does it if he has hides or not so... I wouldnt worry about it.
