Biting Boa
Everytime i try to hold my boa he bites me, about a week after i got my boa he got out of his cage, he was gone for a month but we found him. He wasnt eating for a while but i finally got him eating. but now when ever i try to hold him he bites. Even while im holding him he will lung at me some times.
Is there any suggestions on how i could tame him?

wash your hands before and after you handle him, do you feed him in his cage?

I dont feed him in his cage, and before i reach in to get him i try to get his attention so that im not startling him but it seems like that just gives him more time to get ready to bite me lol. and i also wash my hands for i get him

hmmmm what kind of boa is he? are you jittery? if you think you are going to pick him up you hesitate, if you just go for it they dont have time to strike, dont strike at them but go steady pace, maybe only 5 mins a day, or every few hours, keep going he should come around.

My little fellow was pissy when I first got home, he did a lot of hissing, only struck once(bluffing) But what really helped me was a snake hook. It will give you more confidence when handling him, normally when out thier enclosures they calm down a little. At least mine did. Good luck to you....I'm sure he will come around.

bite back.... JK: ) be patience if he is hissing at you leave him alone thats what he wants. take it slow you might have to take a few bites before he calms down. also if you dont want to get bit wear a long sleeve shirt and some gloves till he stops biting all the time
