a little help on feeding

hey everyone well let me start off by saying im new and my name is Roger.

well i have 1.1 BCI's their both 4 feet and on medium rats. prekilled of course.

the boy is a wonderful eater and will eat anytime i give him a chance. hes almost perfect when it comes to eating

and the female........well im having a hard time getting her to eat, shes very stubborn, she doesnt eat rats good at all, the owner said that she was raised on mice and this might be the problem.

well to get her to eat i have to put her in a tiny tub where their is just enough room for her and the rat to fit in their , and sometimes she'll eat it and sometimes she want ?

she alwayd ate perfectly when she was on mice. so i guess i need some pointers to get her to eat. The next feeding im gunna try chain feeding with a mouse then a rat. but i need some pointers please.

BTW - all the temps are great the only thing holding me back from trying to get her to eat now is that shes in blue so it'll be maybe a couple days till i can feed her.thanks.

Welcome, I would take some old mouse bedding and put it in with a f/t rat for a half hour or so. The smell should be more like a mouse and that usually helps. Also, try a whole lot of dangling the rat around. Are you sure shes not going to shed? Rats are for better than mice for boas so a quick switch would be good. Make syre the temps are high(92 is good for mine). I would try to feed every 5-7 days and when shes hungry enough she will eat

	Frozen/Thawed A rodent or other prey item that is frozen and then thawed to be fed to a reptile or other animal.

try leaving them alone in a contianer in dark room or spot over night. This worked for my haphazard eaters

i agree with scenting the rat with dirty mouse shavings, it worked great on my BP. by the way...welcome to RTB. let us know how this turns out
