I have been getting a lot of mixed info about Suriname Boas. I plan on buying one in the near future. I have been told they get larger then BCIs. But, I read they only get 5-8 feet. Does anyone really know. I tried e-mailing breeders but I guess they are too busy to return my e-mails. Also, I was told they have more of a nasty temper then BCIs. I haven't found any care sheets just for Surinames so I'm sort-of in the dark.

The record for the longest known boa constrictor goes to a female Surinam housed at the San Diego Zoo. She's just over 14 feet long.

As for temperment, it varies with the individual.. Back when BCC was very rarely bred, most of the animals on the market were wild-caught adults and subadults, so someone made the generalization that BCC were ill-tempered snakes.
