Yes, and quite quickly. If you want a bedding that holds humidity and doesn't mold, try cypress mulch. The double-milled stuff that comes in a giant bag from Home Depot/Lowe's is awesome stuff. It's fairly soft and retains heat well. I believe a the big bag was only around $3-$4.

i use mulch and wet it pretty good a few times a day and it never has molded. i like cyprus the most of anything i have used.

I have always had aspen produce mildew quickly, particularly under the water bowl where there is less air circulation. I will not use it on any snakes. I perfer cypress.
