Bite pics
I was just telling someone earlier today that I've only ever been bitten twice and both times were due to SFEs and that my snakes are as docile as they come. So I get home and I'm itchin' to hold one of em' cause I've been braggin' on 'em. I go to get Kahlua out, but he's full in blue and grumpy so I leave him alone.
Ok, so I'll hold my baby girl... I reach into Lil' Girl's enclosure and put my hand slowly infront of her as I always do to let her know that it's my hand and not a rat. I have her safely in my right hand, and what does the little brat do? Turns around in a flash and takes a big ol' chomp of my dang hand! No reason...no smells on my hand other than soap as I always was before holding them. She's not in shed at all... just a random strike... I was headed to the bathtub with her still attached to my hand, planning on running her under water, and she finally let go. she had constricted and left three teeth in my hand.
OK, so now, picture me running around the house looking for the camera, finding that the memory card is still in the card reader in the printer and the digi has no batteries...it took me 15 minutes to get the camera put together (one handed to boot) to get these dang shots, and now there are three TV remote controls in the house with no AA batteries! LOL!
*sigh* So, here are the results of that drama... this is the first bite I've taken since september of last year ... LIL "stinker". Wish I knew what got into her!
Sorry the pics are blurry... I was trying to take pics left handed at close range

And this is the culprit... pic was taken a few weeks ago after a shed.

Oops... feel free to change it if it is offensive.
Yeah, she was being a little fiesty. I'll let her alone awhile and try again... don't want to let her get away with it, and it's not exactly like one can punnish a snake

I've only got a few bite stores (and close calls)
One time I was looking at some nicaraguans at this pet store, and found out quickly that they were mistreated and pretty agressive. They already look underfed and they are all piled in the corner with really crappy living conditions. So I ask to pull one out to see if I can take one of these little guys to a better home. So the guy just randomly takes one out and lets me hold it for a bit. Right as it gets into my hands, it starts to puff up and lunges at my opposite hand... course this all during the "selling" conversation. I dodged the bite by milliseconds, and later decided that I didn't have the time to try to tame one of these guys.
The best one was when my dumb brother left our burmese out on the bed and left him alone on the bed for about 20 minutes while he ran off to do who knows what. He came back into the room scared out of his wits because here's this 6-foot burm on the bed, getting territorial, puffing up... all that good stuff. He starts to approach him and the snake JUMPS about 5 feet and bites him right on the neck. Luckily, he didn't hang on to his neck or else that would have been pretty messy. Anywho, it scared the crap out of him, and he was bleeding pretty bad. Good thing the snake didn't get any major veins or arteries or else it would have been pretty bad.

I'm sure that to the non-herper it was either hysterical ... or downright insane Had Anne Marie been home, she would have been running around like a chicken with her head cut off screaming for someone to call 911! LOL...when she called from work later this evening, I told her Lil' Girl had tagged me... she asked if I needed to go to the emergency room... LOL. You'd think that after 4 years of keeping snakes in the house she'd be used to it!
To the rest of us it's just cause for a good laugh picturing someone running around the house with a snake attached to their hand screaming for a camera! (cause so many of us have been in just the same position!)

I have not been bitten by either one of my corn snakes yet. Not once has either one even acted as if they will strike. After I get my boa in December/January, I will see how long that lasts...
