Re: New Hog Island Boa- Reverse Strip

Hey guys. The reverse stripe is genetic in some instances. Paul Mitchell in Maine (I think it's Maine PMHerps . Captive Bred Reptiles) has been working with a group of reverse striped Hogs for a few years now. It's a simple recessive gene so the only way you'd find out is to breed it to another reverse stripe and see if you get all reverse stripes or breed it back to a parent. IMO GuinessJim's are probably not genetic since it the female only threw one clutch that had reverse stripes. But you never know, the genes could have mutated somewhere to produce the stripes.

Re: New Hog Island Boa- Reverse Strip

thx guys. can't wait till the first shed.

Cass is the biggest hog i have ever seen...she is 7 to 8' long (no idea on weight, but i would guess 20-25lbs when fat and happy). such a sweetheart except for right after she drops babies. then she is big, mean, and covered in slime...wonderful combination.
