?? for anyone who has a boaphile cage
Hey everyone,
I'm looking into buying a boaphile cage and was curious to know if I should go with the 421D or the 422D. I'm trying to plan for the long term for my two new babies, and from what I've read, a seven foot boa can live quite comfortably in either of those cages. Does anyone have a snake of this size in one of these cages? Any thoughts and opinions would be great.

I have 2 422d's and I would have to reccomend them over the 11 1/2 high one because it gives you more room to get in there and get your snake out. I also have expandable ends on both since it'll give me the option to add on later.

I have boaphiles and the taller ones are nicer for cleaning and for getting your snakes out.The only downside to the taller ones is you kind of need the radiant heat panel and the belly heat to keep good ambient temp because of the height.Where as with the 421's you can get away with just the belly heat so it is a bit cheaper.

A 7 foot boa in a 4 foot cage? Comfortable? Not by my standards but I’m no expert.

We keep a 7' boa in a 4' Boaphile 422D. It works great! I would suggest that you purchase the extra shelf option, it gives you about 50% more "floor space" and give the boa something to climb onto.

Of my 2 422d's both have expandable ends and 1 has a shelf. If I ever get another boa I'd definitely get another 422d but without the shelf. I find it hard to see in the back/bottom half of cage and for some reason my boa likes to poop back there and since the shelf casts a shadow I actually have to use a flashlight to see in there, since I don't wanna just feel with my hand and grab a fistfull of wet poop.

I guess I don’t see a 7-foot snake and a 4-foot cage being “ great”
Just for general principles I took my 7-foot boa and put it in my Boaphile 422D and I have no idea how it could be considered “Great” for anything bigger than a corn snake but hey, that’s just me.

lol in response to you eddie, I wouldn't have the first clue of how to build my own cage. Aside from the fact that I'm a girl, I am utterly useless when it comes to putting anything together. Nonetheless, creating and building my own cage. I also have a space issue, so the 422D seems like the perfect option since they're stackable. All of your input has been really helpful, thanks so much to all of you. I'm going to put in an order for the 422D. As for your point StevenLeeAugust, I can understand where you're coming from about the cage not being big enough. However, aren't boas pretty inactive for the most part? The only time I've seen mine move is to "thermoregulate" or get a drink of water. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of enclosure do you have for your 7 foot boa? Plus, my boas are out with me at least three hours a day. Except for the 48 hours after they eat. I defenitley want to do what's best for them. This sounds stupid, but they're like my kids.
