hey guys and girls...im new here
hey guys and girls...i have been thinking about buying a snake for some time now...i have always had an interest in them but my mom never let me get one...well we have come to the decision that i can get one...i was at a pet store looking at ball pythons when i saw a red tail boa right next to it and i fell in love with how it looked...i immediately went online and started doing research...i have decided when i go to purchase it i am going to go with a captive bred one online..the site i was planning on ordering it from was www.boastore.com Has anyone had any experience from this place? i was reading what some of the previous customers had said and it sounded pretty good to me...I was looking to get a female and i have a 20 gallon tank to start with then i will obviously move up to a bigger one and eventually make my own. Im really hoping to learn more from everyone on here...if anyone has any kind of info to give me ill be glad to listen...thanks alot
Doug

ive never dealt with them so i dont know, maybe someone else has, but i just got an argentine boa from Vince Russo at Cutting Edge Herps and im almost positive that he's in PA. i was very happy with him and the way he does business. his website is cuttingedgeherps.com but theres usually nothing listed as available, but if you call or send him an e-mail he'll let you know what he has. i met up with him at the last expo in white plains and picked up my little one and i cant be happier. another person you might want to look into is Gus Rentfro at Rio Bravo Reptiles. he is another great breeder and his animals are top quality.

Another good person is Dan Mulleary at DM Exotics. I buy my arboreals from him but he also breeds BCC and BCI. www.dmexotics.com

welcome to the site! nice choice choosing a boa, but watch their feeding response, if you handle a mouse, rat, guinea pig, etc make sure wash your hands really good, or else youll end up with teeth marks in your hands lik i have right now. i havent heard anything about that site, i have only ordered from alex hue reptiles (alexhureptiles.com) and exotics by nature (boaconstrictormorphs.com) good luck with your purchase, and welcome to the site!

Indeed welcome. I haven't done any snake purchasing online. I think I prefer to go to the shows. (I picked up my girl at an I.R.B.A show in San Diego) Or go directly to the breeder.
I have started buying rats/rabbits through RodentPro.com though. Many people here, including me, will tell you they've got good prey items for whatever you have. If you buy bulk, they're the way to go. It may seem expensive. But when you average out buying bulk vs. buying individual f/t or live, it's actually less. You may even find someone in your area who's willing to go in on a buy with you.
As you've already seen, there are a lot of very helpful and informative folks here. I'm sure you'll learn a lot, just as I have.
And I'm a lover of those RTB as well. Check out Zephyr who's saying "hi" to the camera. She's currently 6'4" (give or take) and approx 3-4 years old.

Just a hint, don't even entertain the idea of getting a Burmese Python.
