Heating
Just wondering if 85 degrees{day time} is an ok temp for my RTB.... She is in a 40 gallon critter tank. Also having trouble keeping the humitity up to the 70-80 range always drops even after spraying water through out the enclosure, any ideas on keeping it constant? Thank you
One more question she is about 5 months old approx 15 inches long is 1 hopper mouse evry 7 days an OK feeding

You dont need your humidity that high 50-65 would be fine.Sometimes to much humidity is bad and causes respitory infections and other ailments.I use 50-65 for my redtails and they are doing great. That feeding sounds fine to me are you sure she is 15 inches at 5 months thats a bit small.

i wouldn't worry to much about humidity i make sure it doesn't drop below 50, i've had a bci for two years and its never been any problems respiratory or otherwise, when she is shedding though i spray her twice a day and raise the humidity a little and this results in a perfect shed i would move to rats as well u have to at some point so earlier the better, i switched mine as soon as i got her she was on mice at the reptile store and i've offered her rats from day one no probs took them straight away boas are'nt fuusy so this shouldn't be a problem mines never missed a meal in 2 years hopefully your boa will be as easily kept as mine has

I'd suggest raising the temp. a couple of degrees, if You can. 87-88F is really ideal. Your humidity need not be in excess of 60% untill the snake is in shed mode. I keep my humidity between 55-60ish and have had no problems. Just bump it up to 70-80% during shed cycles, and You should be fine.

You can tell when the eyes go blue they are 4-5 days from shed. What I do is spray them directly and lay them in a water dish. Sometimes they try and escape but when I put them back in they seem to get over the shock and enjoy it. Humidity is the key to a good shed. I found that out the hard way. All my recent sheds have been 100% and it is much easier on the snake.

If your humidity is a constant 50-65%, then you should have no problems. I've never misted my enclosures, never soaked my snakes, never seen them soak on their own, never had a bad shed (that's right... 1 piece sheds w/ eye caps for all my snakes every time), never had a RI, never had scale rot. Just my 2 cents.
