125 gal
Hi im new to the forums and figured what better place to come and ask a question
I have an empty 125 gal tank ready for a new addition. I am wondering if i should get a male or female ( BCI ). Im looking for a nice sized snake with a docile temperment, which is why i turned to a Boa. However i have heard of males reaching no more than 5 feet , makes me more intrested in a female.
Would a 125 gal be sufficent for a female, also any pics of female bci would be appreciated
Chris

Only island boas stay that small (usually) and even that is a stretch. The most common boas (columbian bci's) are a lot larger than that as adults. Males can range between 6-8 and females sometimes up to 10 feet. Females need a lot more room because they are not only longer, but wider. Even then, an adult male needs at least 4'x2' floor space.

So The length doesnt make up for it?
are you saying its too thin for a female, would it be suitable for a male?

I think you've got years before it's an issue. Plus not every snake is going to be 10 feet. It would be nice if it was the 2.5 but I don't think it's a deal breaker that it's not. Just my 2 cents.

Remember to house your new addition in a smaller tank while he is a baby because he/she will get stressed in to big of an enviroment. I would personally split the tank into 2 and then you can have 2 but thats just what I would do.
