Exclamation Should Hog Island boas go off feed during winter?

Hi all,

I know colubrids *can* be brumated, but I thought boas and pythons eat all year round. Am I wrong? My BP always fasts over winter, but he's over 6 years old. My HI boa and savu python don't want to eat either, and they are both about 3 years old. Is this normal?

jonathon

Should they? no.
Will they? Somtimes.

Sounds like you have a male that has reached sexual maturity and has interests other than food. But that's just a guess.

Not that I'm aware of, but they could be coming into breeding age and be a bit tempermental about eating.

Have your temps dropped in the cages due to the cooler outside temps? Too cool a temp may cause the snake to loose some desire in food.
