how long does a RI last?
I have had my two sick snakes treated and am continuing to do what the vet said and am wondering how long it takes for them to respond. Also I am wondering if they ever clear up by themselves-w-proper temps/humidity? Lastly how easily is this spread and what would an average fatality rate be for subadult snakes?

Baytril Is A No No For Snakes, It Can Cause Burns. RI's are the most common causes of death in captive snakes. If it is caught early enough, the infection can usually be cured by improving the snakes conditions and raising the temperature to an acceptably high level. It is recommended that you raise the temperature higher until the infection clears up.

We had a female boa who came to us with a RI. She was on Baytril for a month before she came to us. Then we took her to the vet and was put on a different type of meds. I have had GREAT results with Peprocillion. I was to give her the shot for 14 days. I have had snakes get right back together in three days of the meds. But this female was on the new meds for a week, and she got much better. She was starting to get more aware, and also clingy. Just the past two days ago, she finnally ate, and that is a great sign that she is now fully cured of her RI. Sometime's you'll have a snake who will have a RI for a very long time. Depends on how her RI started.
but mostly about two weeks on meds is when the boa will be better

Temperatures Should Be Risen To 5-10 Degrees Hotter Than Normal.

very true. When we give meds to our boas, we raise the temps and lower the humitidy.
