$39 boas at Petco

Just went by petco to get some frozen feeders (They were completely out of rats, morons always are...) but anyways, while I was waiting to be attended to I noticed they had some Central American BCI on sale for $38.99

Now I've been to petco to pick up feeder rats many times and if I remember correctly their boas were always like $125. Is this just a sale my petco is having or is this happening at all your petco's too? Just curious.......

If they were selling them for 19.99 I think I'd still pass just on who's selling them.

once upon a time I remember seeing babies on dealer lists (before internet reptile sales) for 20-25 each, so its possible they got a super special bulk discount on a large lot and are ACTUALLY passing the savings on to the "consumer" (I hate using that word when talking about people buying animals)

Buy them all and let them go somewhere in the corner of the store! I would prefer to deal-w-breeders I've come to meet through this forum.

Every now and again they have a sale to flush out old stock. A few months ago the petco around here was selling Balls for 39.99, normally 75.

However, I never seen them discount the Boas, they are never under 125 around here.

After seeing the low prices I talked to the manager and asked him whats up (I do a lot of biz there, rodents and crickets), he told me its b/c of the breeders needing room, so they push them through the market.

What a world we live in.

Hmmm, let them go in the corner of the store so they can die? No thanks. I'm sure you're joking, at least I hope so.

I prefer to go through trusted breeders too and always have, just making this post to see if this is goin on all over or just at the petco here.

Yeah, and when I asked to see them I figured he would give me a hard time about stressing them, or make me wash my hands, or wash his or something. NOPE, just opened it up, pulled em both out and handed em to me! Geeez

My local Petco has them priced at 159.99. They are anery's too. They don't even know what anery's even are and why they are different. I am tempted, however ,I don't want to encourage there bad husbandry practices ect. with my money. Instead I talk with the staff and get to know them to educate them on the proper housing, husbandry, ect. It has improved, but is still far from perfect. I'll keep trying.

I actually had to stop in to our local one tonight while I was out just because of this post. The one's there are going for 104.99 though non were in stock. That one isn't bad at all though I've heard the horror stories of one's in other parts of the country. And really we stopped in at one breeder place that looks so clean at the shows and man, it was just about the scariest thing I had ever seen, way worse than anything I could imagine.

Dang good price if it was mine I'd buy it. The central am's are 85 at my store. Dark black too, saying it's from Mexico on the sign.

It's really cool to see how many people refuse to do (any) business with these stores, regardless of prices. Keep it up, and keep telling people (and stores) why you do it. Why anyone would buy snakes or feeders from a pet store is mind boggling, to me, anyway.
