Have you noticed ?
As I was holding one of my guys tonight, I wondered if any snakes might actually enjoy being "petted" or "rubbed" in any particular spot. One of my boys seems to relax when I rub under his throat area. Have any of you here a RTB ever notice that? Have you ever had a snake that you thought enjoyed have a certain area rubbed?
Maybe I'm just reading to much into his lack of movement, lol! !
What do you guys think?
James

Well, I guess it all depends.. I have 2 red-tails, and both with let me do weird stuff without moving one bit... give antibiotics, help to shed, remove eye caps... that sort of stuff... even some petting they tolerate fairly well.... until I touch the TAIL... and then all of a sudden they have to move... quicker than they move any other time too.

My female colombian bci doesn't mind a little scratch under the chin, head petting or touching her tail. Of course, this is why she is named Coma. She doesn't respond to most stimuli that other snakes would freak over. She just kinda chills out regardless of whats going on.

Our BCI has no issue being touched anywhere, as I discovered the other day when I was trying to see why his head was swelling (see Odd BCI head issue thread). My dumerils on the other hand just about flipped over backwards when I touched her head to compare. Haha, lesson learned!

Mine is still a baby and a little timid when we get him out of his cage. Once he is out he relaxes a bit but still s's up once in a while. When he does this you can give him a little run down his body with the tip of your finger and he immediately relaxes.
I used to give my old RTB baths all the time when my ball got mites and I treated them both since they were in the same room. He absolutely loved it. He would almost melt and rub up against my arms. I do think that some of them just love the contact and closeness.

Tail rubbing rocks! That's how I get most of my nonvens back in the cage. I open the door and let them crawl in. They never go in as fast as I want them to and kind of linger half in and half out. One or two little rubs on the tail and they zip right in and I can close the door
I have a few snakes that seem to enjoy chin rubs. Most lizards also seem to like it (exception tokay geckos. They don't like anything) But I don't think the lizards really enjoy it as much as we want to think. It is widely accepted that they close their eyes so they can pretend we aren't there. If they can's see us...we must not be there....yet we tend to perceive this as them being in ecstasy.
