Boas are generally more placid.
Male burms can get teritorial in their cage, but when out are usually ok. Big but ok.

Your results may vary, results my vary from snake to snake. Did i get the disclaimer right?

Boas are surely more relaxed. Burms tend to be pushier as they get big and realize that they can just go where they want and you can't stop them. I have a 13ft. 110lb. male burm that is 12 years old and is really laid back, but if he decides he wants to do something or go somewhere while he is out it can be a chalenge to keep a hold on him. My female burm (12ft.)scares everyone because she will shoot right up to the glass to get a look at whoever is there. Just really curious but once out she can be hard to deal with again because of her size and she thinks that you can't stop her.
Now my boas are both so laid back that I have fallen asleep with my female on my shoulders while watching a movie and woke up an hour later with her still there asleep also. And my male is the same way pretty much, but he likes to do a little exploring when he first comes out and then calms down after about 15 minutes of that. They are both alot easier to handle and not just because of the size thing. It is their natural thing to find a nice spot to chill out and stay there. But I love them all for what they are.

David

i'd like to add, before getting either, but especially a burm, read as much as possible about them. many people buy burms and quickly realize that they can't feed and/or house them. this is true with boas to some extent, but not as much so. either way, do your homework. feel free to ask anything else and good luck deciding.

david pretty much hit the nail right on the head about boas..they are definately placid snakes and pretty dont much care all to much about what's going on around them. now there are a few subspecies of redtails that range in size but they're not intimidating.

as far as burms go they're awesome too if you dont mind the aggresiveness come feeding time which to me is like 24/7 lol but burms come in some awesome morphs the granite being one of my personal faves..size wise im sketchy about that part, i heard that dwarf burms exsist which wouldnt surprise me and i bet their prices would be rather high...prolly much like the dwarf retics.
