cheap boas
hey, I was just wondering if there are any well known places to buy captive bred snakes (online) that aren't as expensive..I've seen a lot of beautiful snakes, and would love to have a pastel or morph or something, but think that when the time comes I might not want to dish out $200 (or more!) but might want to spend like $40-$80 and just get your everyday BCI...since I'm gonna be spending so much on getting the proper caging and everything. And I'd like to buy from a place that is already feeding on f/t, so I don't have to worry about that (that's one of the problems w/buying from a pet store..they seem to do the live prey thing a lot more)

for 80 bucks all you are gonna get is a common bci. nothing wrong with that, though. you might could get an anery for a few hundred more... but i don't know the pricing of morphs, much.
but like you mentioned, the real cost is in housing (moreso as it grows) and feeding.
there are plenty of people around with cb bci.

shes lovely, spitting image of mine, would you say she was a pure rtb? just mine is apparently a cross between an rtb and a common and from the pictures i would say they look pretty simiular.

Even a regular BCI could set you back over $100 depending on the breeder.
on a personal note I have to say dont just pick a snake due to its price. there very well may be a reason one BCI is $40 and another one is $100
here is a pic of Ivy I took this morning(its an older digi cam so exuse the darkness). she set me back over $100 but it was worth it IMOP. and if you are getting a baby I might add your innitial set up can cost under $50

It doesn’t sound like you are too picky on the breed so how about looking into an adoption? Try a Rescue in your area and you can get all kinds of snakes for free!

I was going to suggest an Adoption, too. Often, my local SPCA getws in unwanted boas that could go home with ya for a tiny $50 adoption fee. And that's for a large adult.
I would steer clear of anything that looks "too good to be true" online. If someone's selling a captive-bred boa for like $30, I would seriously doubt it's really captive bred. But that's just me, the eternal skeptic (been screwed over one too many times, heh.)

i agree with steven... adoption is a great way to feel your needs and find a good home for a snake that needs one.
