When should I handle?

I have a RTB and I just got her maybe 3 days ago....Anyways I fed her yesterday and I was wondering. When should I start holding her. The reason why I ask this is because the first day I got her I was taking her out of the box I took her home in and she bit me. It wasnt that bad of a bite. I think its my fault that she bit me because she was in the box the whole car ride home and she had to be a lil shaken. Then with me sticking my hands in the cage........well it must of scared her. Can anyone help. I dont need a mean snake in my house. BTW I didnt grab her by her neck when I picked her up (MY BAD)......Thanks for the help in advance!

Give her a week or so to settle in before handling her. Also, give her between 24-48 hours after feeding to digest before taking her out at all.

BTW, I'm glad you didn't grab her by then neck! Why would you EVER do that? She is a little baby thats new to the world, if anything, it's kinda cute when they latch onto your finger. With proper handling, husbadry and attention, she will mellow out fast. Grabing a snake by it's neck is very stressful, and isn't going to help your snake calm down.

Thanks man. Yea I figure that if she sees me everyday she will get used to me being around. She isnt that small of a baby she is about 9-11 months old. So it was a finger she bit she bit my arm. I didnt feel bad for me........unlike my girlfriend........I felt bad for the snake. She was prolly really scared.

Any time! She should calm down pretty fast, but I'm not real suprised that she was a little nippy after all the moving around and a new environment. Good luck!
