proper caging
ok im setting my tank up its a 40 gallon breeder its 36x18x16 and was wondering if i could use the round black river rock and make a waterfall in the tank that he would bath in and drink from
my plans for this ar to put in a 3 inch high glass wall across the tank on one side to hold the waterand fill the rest of the tank with the rocks and have some branches and his little hut in there lol.
would this be unhealthy or should i put a filtration system on the water and just use the output of the filter for the waterfall?
i also use a fogger in my tank that is properly protected.
thanks for your help

The best bet for a boa is keep it simple.
Cage carpet, newspaper, or mulch for a substrate and just a plain old water bowl big enough for the snake to soak in. Too much stuff in the cage and it becomes a nightmare to clean/disinfect when the snake leaves you a mess. If you do decide to go with the fountain then be prepared to change all of the water out every time the snake makes a mess.

Stormyva has some good points. I personally use "Kitty Litter" trays for water dishes (clean ones of course, not "recycled"). They are duralble, cheap and work very well. A "water fountian" in a tank is just asking for trouble in my humble opinion, but I guess it wouldnt hurt, I just wouldnt really recommend it, thats all. The fogger set up is pretty good for bringging up the humidity if thats a problem for you in your local. How much humidity depends upon the type boa in question. I keep mine around 70% or so unless its shedding time with my Guyana Red Tails. Your milage my vary though...

90+ Relative humidity is too high if it is sustained over a long period of time, givin your temperatures are correct. What are your temps at? 90 percent Relative humidity at 70 degrees has a lot less actual moisture content than 90 percent percent relative humidity at 88 degrees. In either case, yep. 90 percent is too high. To high of a humidity will not allow a snake to thermoregulate because moisture on it's body will not evaporate fast enough. Moisture on the snake's body will trap too much of the snake's radiation. So.... your snake will not be able to cool down fast enough when it needs to. It will overheat.
