Over the Hill Boa

I was thinking about boas and breeding, the numbers of offspring to expect, and some other stuff pertaining to the breeding experience.

A question came to mind.

When is a female boa too old to be bred? And males?
Or does it go by how many litters she has born in her lifetime?

I have heard about Colubrids being sold after several years of breeding or at a certain age, but nothing about boas.

I am not being specific, so this pertains to BCI and BCC alike.

thanks

Well last year i tried a breding project with a friends 20 yr old striped Boa, and my proven male, and had coplulation (he would copulate a tree if i let him) Nothing happened. But i also seen other factors in that attempt too that may have thwarted succesful breding. She was a little thinner than I 'think' is good breeding size. She was healthy looking, but not that big heft rubust look that good female breeders have. She was almost to the point to where if she went off feed during the pregnancy i would be really concerned for her safety.

So really not sure if age had anything to do with it. he wants to try again soon so we will see. i told him to really fatten her up this time.
