Cold Duck
By the second week of February the male wood frogs and Jefferson salamanders arrive at the vernal pools in anticipation of the upcoming breeding season. This morning while checking the pools I spotted this male wood duck. Temps this morning were 14°F but the gusting winds reduced the wind chill to -10 to -20°F.
