Killer birds!
The only bird documented as killing a grown man.
I'm sure some of you guys know what they are.
Adult male
Male with one of two chicks
Independant sub-adult
We saw these wild animals walking under the accom. we were staying in on our honeymoon.
More of the wildlife we experienced can be seen here

Cool Cassowary! I've seen them on TV, but never seen a juvenile before. Interesting to see how different they are from adults.

Some people call them by Double-wattled Cassowary (Casuarius casuarius casuarius) but all I know is that they taste like chicken. Now to find a oven large enough.....

The tallest bird of all time was the New Zealand "moa". It stood 11 feet tall but became extinct some 400 years ago.

Where did you take that pic John?
There were several species of moa in New Zealand, and they must have tasted good too
as they were completly eaten out by the Moari in as little as a 400 year period.
mmmm....a drumstick that lasts a week!

The photo was taken at a zoo.
Interesting, I didn't know that there were several species of moa.

I don't know about "Wild Boys" , but it is their kick that does all the damage
basically able to disembowel you in one shot. Amazing and beautiful (and endangered)
birds however.

Must be the one. On the show "Wild Boys" if you have heard of the show "jacka$$" its two of those guys goin out in the wild and basically putting their lives in danger by confronting animals. Not necessarily confronting but putting themselves in dumb situations. They go into a caged area with one of these birds and it kicks the crap out of a dummy in one of their hands, but then they drop the dummy in fear and get pummeled too. They do all sorts of stupid things. They don't do any harm to the animals, but probably cause a bit of stress by provoking them. Real dumb guys with a very high pain threshold.
