Mob of ducks!
.. in my yard today..
.

.

.
.. these are black-bellied whistling ducks. They come for seed I put out and also a pan of water. It's a noisy affair! (they're not called whistling ducks for nothing).. Though sometimes they'll be just sitting quietly in the shade or on my house. These are perching ducks. IE: they can sit on a post or wire or whatever just like most birds do..
.
Thanks for looking and have a safe and happy weekend.

Re: Mob of ducks!
They are all beautiful! I love their coloring; it is very different from the ducks that we have around here.
Thanks for sharing!

Re: Mob of ducks!
.. the record in my yard is about 60 at one time. I have seen flocks much larger than that. These ducks are semi-domesticated in other places, mostly Mexico and Central America. People place nest boxes for them and harvest part of the eggs. There are now many more here in Texas than there were some years ago.. more people feeding them and less shooting at them I guess is the reason.
.
Neat birds.. Thanks for all your great replies.

Re: Mob of ducks!
Out curiosity I wanted to know what you call a group of ducks that isn't flying (or swimming)
A brace of ducks is what you have there Gus.
Cool pictures.
