how do i raise a baby amanzon parrot?!?!
hello everybody, this is my problem:
im about to recieve a baby parrot in few days as a gift for my girlfriend, i actually know how to keep parrots and i love them, but this one is a baby and i can't find any information about feeding formulas, temperatures and general proper care...so....HELP!!....i live in venezuela so you know how the things work down here....there are no breeding facilities or expert breeders where you can go to and ask for help, people just take the birds from their nests and then if its lucky, will find a good owner, fact that happens rarely...

Here is a formula for baby parrots
written by Mathew M Vriends Ph D
Soak 6 Purina Monkey chow High protien biscuits in water for 20 minutes and then cook them on a stove top or in a microwave for a while till they brown a bit. time will vary by temp.
remove from heat and add:
3 tsp of smooth peanutbutter
3 tsp of human babyfood oatmeal cereal
1 banana
3 tsp applesauce
3 tsp human babyfood creamed corn
3 tsp human babyfood mixed vegetables
2 tsp plain yogurt or half teaspoon of lactobacillus acidophilus
Blend till smooth and serve at between 104f to 110f (40-43.3c) but as close to the cooler temp as possible
I am trying to breed sun conures right now and Schatzie (Tambra Hermann) sent me this book. The title is "Hand Feeding and Raising Baby Birds". It is published by Barrons. It is well written and very detail. I highly suggest it as there are some very valuable bits of information in it that should answer all of your questions. She ordered it from Amazon.com and had it shipped here. Good Luck!

u guys are fast!!! thank you!!!...i have made some search in the internet and i have found very nice tips, well julius, i couldn't find any better diet than the one u are giving me, THANX!!! one little problem...monkey chow will be impossible to find around here...i was reading in the internet that parrot baby food and adult dog food nutrition facts and the amout of protein in both are quite the same, fat is the only thing that dog food has in a bigger quantity, would be it ok if use dog food? or pelleted parrot food? (which is the only kind of food that i can find here :S)...
